Jets' newly signed kicker ruptures his Achilles tendon
Life can be cruel sometimes.
Kyle Brindza got another shot at the NFL on Feb. 5, when the New York Jets signed the kicker to a reserve/future contract. However, the good feeling lasted for just a little while as the second-year player ruptured his Achilles tendon while working out.
That's a real bummer, and this type of injury will most likely prevent him from playing in 2016. However, it's good to see that Brindza is keeping a positive attitude. And he's still a young player, so it's not like the clock is ticking on his career.
The Jets still have two other kickers on the roster in Nick Folk and Randy Bullock, however the latter is set to become a free agent this offseason. Brindza signed with the Detroit Lions in 2015 and spent most of training camp with them before being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brindza was cut by the Buccaneers in October after going just 6 for 12 on field-goal attempts and 6 for 8 on field goals.
