Jets hire Heimerdinger as director of player personnel, add coaches

The New York Jets have hired Brian Heimerdinger as the team's director of player personnel under new general manager Mike Maccagnan.

Heimerdinger spent three seasons as a scout with St. Louis, working as a player personnel analyst while evaluating both pro and college players. He's the son of the late Mike Heimerdinger, a long-time NFL offensive coordinator.

The younger Heimerdinger has also worked in the front offices of Houston, while Maccagnan was there, and Tennessee. He was a wide receiver at Colorado State and Northern Colorado.

New coach Todd Bowles also hired three assistants Tuesday: quarterbacks coach Kevin Patullo, offensive line coach Steve Marshall and running backs coach Marcel Shipp, who ran for 2,197 yards and 11 TDs in seven seasons with Arizona.
