Jets begin voluntary workouts without Fitzpatrick, Wilkerson

NEW YORK (AP) The New York Jets have begun voluntary offseason workouts without quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.

Fitzpatrick is a free agent who's locked in a contract stalemate, leaving the Jets' quarterback situation unsettled. He set a franchise record last season with 31 touchdown passes. Geno Smith and Bryce Petty are the only players at the position on the roster, and New York could seek a quarterback in the NFL draft later this month if Fitzpatrick remains unsigned.

It had been expected that Wilkerson would not attend Monday. He has yet to sign his franchise tag tender, worth $15.7 million, as he seeks a contract extension. Wilkerson is also rehabilitating from a broken right leg suffered in the season finale in Buffalo in January.
