Jeff Fisher says 'you can see the light' after Jared Goff's much-anticipated debut

No, Jared Goff didn’t throw a touchdown in his NFL debut Sunday. In fact, he barely completed 50 percent of his attempts in the Los Angeles Rams’ 14-10 loss to the Dolphins.

But despite his so-so performance, head coach Jeff Fisher liked what he saw out of the No. 1 pick.

“I’m disappointed in the outcome of the game,” Fisher told reporters after the Rams’ fifth loss in their past six games. “But you can see the light. The light is there for him.”

Goff, who was named starter earlier this week after Fisher benched Case Keenum, mostly played it safe, completing 17 of 31 attempts for 134 yards. He averaged just 4.3 yards per completion, but he didn’t commit a turnover and gave the Rams a chance to win.

Goff is just glad he has that first game under his belt.

"Felt good," Goff said. "We're obviously disappointed with the result there at the end and how things turned out, and how we felt through the whole game and how in control we were. At the end, 6 minutes left, we just kind of couldn't put it away."
