Jason Pierre-Paul training hard, sets playing weight goal
Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul opted to skip all of the New York Giants' spring practices and workouts. Tom Coughlin wasn't happy about it, but if Pierre-Paul shows up on the first day of training camp, all will be forgotten. Of course, he will also have to show up in shape, and in that regard, he is on the right path.
Pierre-Paul is listed on the Giants' official website at 278 pounds, but at times, he has played at over 280 pounds. Two summers ago, Pierre-Paul showed up to training camp overweight, and it drew the ire of Coughlin. Some believe that his lack of conditioning has been the reason for some of his injuries.
If he continues on his current path, this won't be an issue in 2015. Pierre-Paul has made it his goal to play this season at 265 pounds. On Tuesday, he disclosed his current playing weight:
Pierre-Paul followed up that post with a few small videos of his rigorous Thursday morning workout. He looks like he's in pretty damn good shape to me.
With over a month to go, Pierre-Paul's goal of getting down to 265 pounds seems well within reach.
