Jason Pierre-Paul has not yet signed his franchise tender and returned to the New York Giants, which apparently means he is not ready to resume his obligations to charitable organizations, either.
Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News reports that Pierre-Paul was scheduled to appear at the Harboring Hearts Benefit in Manhattan on Tuesday night but never showed up. It would have been his first appearance in New York since he met with the Giants over Labor Day Weekend.
Pierre-Paul wasn’t the only one, as fellow Giants players Landon Collins and Damontre Moore were also scheduled to attend and didn’t make it. A spokesperson for the event said the three players were stuck in traffic.
It’s unclear what route the players took to the event that apparently made it impossible for them to attend.
No timetable has been set for JPP to return. There have been rumblings that the Giants do not believe the 26-year-old defensive end will be able to play football this season, and you’ll know why when you see the photos of his injured hand. Pierre-Paul lost the index finger on his right hand and part of his thumb in a fireworks mishap on the 4th of July.
