Jason Garrett: Tyron Smith is the NFL's best left tackle

Left tackle Tyron Smith has dominated in three out of his first four seasons in the NFL. According to Pro Football Focus, Smith has finished no worse than their seventh-best offensive tackle overall in every season except for 2012. Just a few days after Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters claimed the Eagles' offensive line was better than the Dallas Cowboys' line, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett called Smith the best left tackle in the NFL.

“Our left tackle is the best one in the National Football League,” Garrett said at the Dallas Cowboys U high school football camp at Valley Ranch, following Thursday's OTA practice, per The Dallas Morning News. “He’s very talented. But I’m not sure I’ve ever been around a guy who has worked harder. ...He's about as tough as they come. He represents everything we want as a Dallas Cowboy.”

In 2014, Peters was one of the six left tackles to earn a higher grade from Pro Football Focus. Peters finished as PFF's top rated offensive tackle overall, and he earned higher marks than Smith in both pass and run blocking.
