Jared Goff named backup QB for Rams' home opener against Seahawks

Jared Goff will backup Case Keenum as the Rams' No. 2 quarterback for Sunday's contest against Seattle, according to a report from ESPN. Goff was inactive for L.A. during the team's 28-0 Week 1 loss at the hands of the Niners.

"He's really excited about it," head coach Jeff Fisher said of Goff, via ESPN. "He's ready to play if anything happens. It's exciting for him, just knowing that he's a snap away from going in the game."

Keenum had rough game against San Francisco, completing just 17 of 35 passes for 130 yards and two interceptions while being sacked twice. Goff was the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, and while he may need time to develop, if we see more performances like that from Keenum, he may be pressed into action sooner than expected.

Heck, if the Rams continue to struggle on offense during their home opener, the temptation would be there for Fisher to make an in-game switch.

"It's just prepare the same way every week," Goff said. "It can happen any time. Obviously I support Case, but anything can happen."
