Jake Matthews back in action Tuesday after foot surgery
The Atlanta Falcons got some good news on Tuesday, as starting left tackle Jake Matthews returned to practice, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN. As McClure explains, Matthews underwent surgery back in January to repair a torn Lisfranc ligament in his foot.
"Matthews appeared to run without issue as he participated in early drills. He underwent surgery Jan. 5, and was given a four-month timetable for recovery. There was some belief that Matthews would be held out until training camp in late July." McClure said.
Some great news to say the least for the Falcons, as they'll get one of the more important protectors of Matt Ryan back early on, plus he's back far before many expected. There's plenty of talent on Atlanta's roster, but the offense will absolutely need as much time as possible to get prepared for 2015 under new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.
