Jaguars WR Robinson closing in on major milestone
Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson is closing in on a milestone no Jacksonville player has acheived in a decade.
With 73 yards Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, Robinson will become the franchise's first 1,000-yard receiver since Jimmy Smith 2005.
Robinson, in his second year in the NFL, has 55 receptions for 927 yards and eight touchdowns this season. The Jaguars also have another player with a chance to top the 1,000-yard mark in fellow second-year wideout Allen Hurns. Although he's questionable this week with a concussion, Hurns has 758 yards receiving thus far.
"I think it’s proof that things are headed in the right direction, are getting better,” Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said, per the team's official website. “Any time you get two guys over a thousand or anywhere near a thousand is a special season because it’s not done often.”
It remains to be seen whether Robinson will top 1,000 yards week against the Titans, but if recent history is any indication, he has a strong shot. The 22-year-old had five receptions for 113 yards in Jacksonville's 19-13 win over Tennessee on Nov. 19.
