J.J. Watt talks retirement plans, being down after missing last season
Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt was a guest on The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday and shared what he has in mind once his NFL career is over.
With injuries mounting and the fact that Watt will be turning 28 years-old next month, he needs to start thinking about life after football. He told Patrick that he could see himself coaching high school football somewhere once his NFL career is over because he would like to help kids the way his coach helped him. He also brought up the possibility of doing movies and becoming a super hero.
When it comes to his health, Watt says he won’t change his playing style, but will instead change the way he trains in hopes of minimizing the wear and tear on his body in order to avoid injuries.
Watt also said it’s nice to have the Super Bowl in Houston, but seeing another team’s logo on NRG Stadium is weird and motivates him to reach the big game.
Watt went on and admitted that it was very difficult to not be able to play this season and felt down at times.
Watt was asked about quarterback Brock Osweiler and the Texans struggling offense in 2016. Of course he didn’t say much as Patrick tried to draw him into saying something he might regret.
Give how hard J.J. Watt plays and the toll the football has taken on his body, I would be surprised if he plays past the age of 32. I could even see him retiring at 30 or 31.
