Is 45-year-old Jeff Garcia lobbying for shot at Rams quarterback job?
Former Pro Bowler Jeff Garcia may have a solution to the quarterback woes of the St. Louis Rams. Himself.
Garcia, who played 12 seasons in the NFL and is in his first season as an offensive assistant coach with the Rams, implied he wanted a crack at quarterbacking St. Louis in a Twitter posting early Monday morning that has since been deleted.
In the tweet, Garcia wrote that he was aware of a league rule that prevents someone from playing in the same season once they are already coaching, closing his posting with: "That should be the team's decision, not theirs!"
A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Garcia is 45 years old and hasn't been on an NFL roster since 2011 with the Houston Texans. Yet he may have been emboldened after watching the latest clunker by Rams quarterback Nick Foles in Sunday's 31-7 loss at Cincinnati - the team's fourth consecutive defeat.
