Improving the Offensive Line is the Best Way for the Philadelphia Eagles to Help Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz has exceeded expectations, but still needs some help in order to reach his full potential.

The Philadelphia Eagles have to be beyond excited about how well rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has performed. He has done an excellent job avoiding turnovers while still making plays down the field.

However, the most important thing is that the Eagles are sitting at 4-2 and have a chance to win the division. This isn’t something many expected to see after the team traded away former starting quarterback Sam Bradford a week before the season.

Despite all his success, Wentz still has a lot more work to do in order to become a franchise quarterback. The Eagles as an organization also have to get busy surrounding their young quarterback with talent.

Philadelphia could use some help at the wide receiver position where they lack a true No. 1 target. However, the best place for the team to focus their attention is the offensive line. This past week Philadelphia saw how shaky offensive line play can impact a quarterback.

The biggest issue the team faces is the future of Lane Johnson. They just gave him a new deal only to find out he was suspended for 10 games. It’s a legitimate question if the team can count on him in the future.

Philadelphia needs to make sure they have options in case they’re blindsided with similar news in the future.

Making this is issue more pressing is the fact that Jason Peters is on the back-end of his career. He’ll turn 35-years old next year and has had his share of injuries. This type of uncertainty at both offensive tackle spots isn’t good for a young quarterback.

The Eagles put all their eggs in the Wentz basket when they traded multiple draft picks to the Cleveland Browns and Bradford to the Vikings. Now, they need to make sure they protect their investment.
