Houston Texans Morning Huddle--Wasted Money

Here are your daily Houston Texans stories to kick off your work week:

The Texans wasted money on Osweiler and now are stuck with him by Cameron DaSilva, FOX Sports

Now, they’re stuck with arguably the worst quarterback in the league – and unequivocally the most overpaid. He entered Sunday with the second-worst passer rating, the 28th-best completion percentage, the fewest yards per attempt and just 204 yards per game.

For weeks people were waiting for Savage to be put into the lineup and for Osweiler to be benched. While it was nice that the Texans got the win, let’s not declare Savage to be the answer just yet. The win was against a weak Jaguars squad that has blown multiple games this year. But now I don’t think there’s any choice but to keep Savage in the lineup, and unfortunately no choice but to keep Osweiler next season.

Clowney makes presence felt by Drew Dougherty, Houstontexans.com

Had Jadeveon Clowney not worn a Texans Battle Red jersey, nobody would’ve been faulted for thinking he was a member of the Jacksonville backfield. The Texans defensive end dominated the Jaguars on Sunday, finishing with a sack, a batted pass, three tackles for loss, a pair of quarterback hits and five total tackles on the day.

“That’s about as good as I’ve seen him play this year,” defensive end Antonio Smith said. “As confident as I’ve seen him play. Just having fun, because most of the plays he made were big plays.”

This year there’s a very close race for Texans MVP between Lamar Miller and Clowney. The former number one overall pick has really stepped up his game in the stead of J.J. Watt and kept this defense afloat despite numerous injuries.
