Hillis could miss second straight game

Browns running back Peyton Hillis did not practice because of a hamstring injury, but has not been ruled out of Sunday's game against San Francisco.

Hillis, who missed last week's win over Seattle, returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since Oct. 16, when he injured his hamstring in the first half against Oakland. He reported being a sore after the workout and was kept out of practice on Thursday and Friday. After practice, Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Hillis will travel with the team to San Francisco and his status is questionable - a 50 percent chance - for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Shurmur didn't think Hillis was rushed back too early.

"We brought him back with the idea that he could go out and practice," Shurmur said, adding Hillis ran indoors on Friday. "He did some things, he just couldn't finish, that's all."

Hillis has had a drama-filled season, and it was learned Friday that he got married earlier this week in Arkansas. His wedding was first reported on Arkansas Sports360.com and confirmed by a few of his teammates following practice.

Shurmur said starting wide receiver Mohammed Massaquoi will not play against the 49ers because he has not been medically cleared after sustaining a concussion last week against Seattle. Josh Cribbs will start in place of Massaquoi, who has 18 receptions for a team-leading 239 yards this season.

Tight end Benjamin Watson returned after missing two days with post-concussion symptoms and will play this week.

Also, Shurmur said backup defensive end Auston English suffered a knee injury in practice on Thursday and will not make the trip to California.
