Hatchet buried? Brett Favre to be inducted into Packers Hall of Fame

The Packers' roller-coaster relationship with Brett Favre will come full circle on Monday, when the two parties will announce that the legendary QB will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame next summer. In addition, Favre announced the Packers will retire his No. 4, which he wore for 16 seasons in Green Bay.

Favre posted the news to his official website, and the Packers announced that his number will be retired at the team's Hall of Fame Induction banquet in July 2015.

The team had previously announced the news conference, scheduled for 1:30 local time on Monday at Lambeau Field, though the nature of the news conference was not announced.

Among those in attendance will be Packers Hall of Fame Inc. president Perry Kidder, Packers president Mark Murphy and former Packers president Bob Harlan, who is a member of the Packers Hall of Fame executive committee.

As for Favre, he will not be there in person, but will indeed be a part of the announcement:

Favre built one of the all-time great careers in Green Bay, leading the Packers to two Super Bowls and winning one, as well as winning three NFL MVP Awards. But the team and QB had a falling out after the 2007 season, the team having drafted Aaron Rodgers in the first round of the 2005 Draft and wanting to give him the keys to the offense. Favre was traded to the Jets in the summer of 2008 after Favre announced his retirement then recanted and decided he wanted to continue to play.

Favre would play one season in New York and two more in Minnesota before retiring after the 2010 season.

Favre retired as the NFL all-time leader in passing attempts, completions, yards, TDs and interceptions — marks he still holds today. He is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
