Harbaugh dishes on Ravens' draft board, second chances for Ray Rice

On the eve of the NFL draft, Ravens coach John Harbaugh discussed the unrest in Baltimore this week, Ray Rice, and how the Ravens evaluate players and move them up and down their draft board.

"We try to take a look at who a person is in their heart, " Harbaugh told NBC Sports Radio on Wednesday. "That's obviously not a perfect science. Do they fit us in the end and do we feel like they're going to be the type of people that we want to be part of what we're trying to do going forward. Very few people get totally removed from the board."

That last line is particularly interesting considering the prospects that many mock drafters have the Ravens targeting in the first round. Corner Marcus Peters was kicked off the team at Washington last season while pass rushers Randy Gregory and Shane Ray have faced marijuana issues over the last month.

Then there is receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, a receiver with top-10 talent and size who was dismissed from Missouri for his off-field issues, including a domestic violence incident and drug-related arrests.

Speaking of domestic violence, Harbaugh also expressed hope that his former running back gets a second chance in the NFL.

"Everybody deserves a second chance. I've said it many times before. Ray Rice is a friend, he'll always be a friend. Janay (Rice) is a friend and she'll always be a friend. At some point in time, he's going to get an opportunity to do what he loves to do."
