Haloti Ngata, Golden Tate dealing with injuries heading into Week 2
Two of the Detroit Lions' best players are injured and did not practice on Wednesday.
Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, who was sidelined by a hamstring injury all summer, is now dealing with a sore shoulder, according to Justin Rogers of MLive.com. Ngata played well in his Lions debut last week and has taken over as the anchor of Detroit's defensive line, so the Lions would love to have him healthy for Week 2.
On the offensive side of the ball, Lions wide receiver Golden Tate has a quad issue, per MLive.com. Tate was Detroit's most-targeted pass-catcher last week but produced only four catches for 24 yards.
The Lions play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. They need both Ngata and Tate on the field, so the team is likely treating both of these injuries with tremendous care.
Other players who didn't practice on Wednesday were linebacker DeAndre Levy (hip) and tight end Brandon Pettigrew (hamstring), according to MLive.com. Defensive tackle Caraun Reid, cornerback Darius Slay and guard Larry Warford were all limited in practice with ankle injuries.
