Gruden believes DeAngelo Hall can be a top safety in the NFL

DeAngelo Hall was one of the NFL's top cornerbacks for a number of years. But this year with the Washington Redskins, Hall was utilized as a safety later into the season.

That move proved to be beneficial for the Redskins. Placing Hall at the strong safety position allowed Will Blackmon and Bashaud Breeland to play as the starting corners. And, as a whole, the move helped make the entire Redskins' secondary stronger.

Head coach Jay Gruden believes that that same move can benefit the Redskins next season, and he's confident that as Hall gets more and more comfortable with the position, he will rise to the top of the league's best.

Hall provides a tremendous amount of experience and leadership, but he's also going to be 33 midway through next season. He likely doesn't have that same speed as he had in his prime. That would make it difficult for him to play corner on a regular basis. So if Hall can become very comfortable in his new role, it will likely extend the longevity of his career, and it gives Washington another solid player to utilize in their secondary.
