Greg Olsen 'surprised' by interference call that negated touchdown

It seemed that tight end Greg Olsen was officially on the board in 2015 in the first half of the Carolina Panthers' 20-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Olsen went up and pulled down a 4-yard touchdown, but turned and saw a penalty flag.

The call was offensive pass interference, which Olsen was a bit surprised to see, according to David Newton of ESPN.

“There was some contact when he [the defender] bit on the fade,’’ Olsen told ESPN on Monday. “He tried to recover. I jumped up to catch the ball. That’s what I thought happened. Obviously, they had a different perspective."

“I was very surprised to turn around and see the flag on the ground,’’ Olsen said. “When I asked him, he said I created separation by pushing him. I don’t know what else to say.’’

It was obviously disappointing for Panthers fans, and Olsen ended the game with just one catch for 11 yards. Fortunately, Olsen isn't the type of player to freak out about not getting the ball, especially since his team is 1-0.
