Green Bay Packers News: Ty Montgomery making a big difference on offense

Ty Montgomery is proving to be a key piece in the Green Bay Packers offense.

His stock is rising, as Ralph Mancini wrote in his weekly stock up, stock down report.

Fans in London won’t be seeing Montgomery next year, however, the Packers not among the eight teams traveling to England next year. Living just 90 minutes away from London myself, I was hoping this might the season the Pack comes to town. The Minnesota Vikings head to Twickenham Stadium to play the Cleveland Browns.

Mike McCarthy received plenty of criticism from fans during Green Bay’s losing run this year, myself included. I wrote in “Packer Perspective” following the loss to Tennessee that it was time for a reboot. The jury is still out for McCarthy, but as I wrote in this week’s column, he deserves credit for the changes he’s made.

What a year Ty Montgomery is having. We saw just how dangerous he could be last term, but a season-ending injury derailed his momentum. The Packers are using him in a number of ways, and he is an X-Factor moving forward.

Kenny Clark is coming along, but he is still yet to make a major impact on defense. Rob Demovsky looks back at the first-round pick, as well as the rest of the 2016 draft class. Dean Lowry had a nice game versus Seattle, but Jason Spriggs might so far be the best pick of the draft. He’s had a lot on his plate filling in at guard, but the second-round pick has done a good job.
