Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers scolds media for questioning his play

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was not relaxed when scolding the media for questioning the play of Green Bay’s offense…

Does Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers need to relax?

You know…”R-E-L-A-X”?

Rodgers recently addressed the Packers’ offensive struggles, except we saw a different side of the former MVP quarterback than we normally do…

This is pretty out of character for Rodgers, but so is his play. It doesn’t surprise me that he’s reacting like this to those who are questioning what’s going on with the Packers’ offense lately, because the struggles extend beyond a recent loss to the Vikings.

Look back at the last calendar year for Rodgers and the Packers, and the way they have played in general but specifically against top NFL competition.

The Packers barely escaped a week one win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road, and then lost a game that was closer on the scoreboard than it was on the field to the Minnesota Vikings. They lost a disappointing playoff game against the Cardinals last year in the Divisional round, and two weeks prior to that, they had dropped a home game and the division to the Minnesota Vikings.

After a 6-0 start last year, the Packers and Aaron Rodgers have been below average, and that might be as nice as we can put it. They’re 6-8 in their last 14 games, and in those losses, the offense has scored 20 points or less in all but one game.

The bottom line is, it’s fair to be criticizing Rodgers and the Packers’ offense. Obviously, injuries played a huge part in it last season, but with Jordy Nelson back and Eddie Lacy seemingly back in decent football shape, the excuses are running thin and Rodgers is expressing that frustration with his reaction to the media.
