Giants WR Nicks doesn't have serious knee injury

The New York Giants say receiver Hakeem Nicks' injury to his right knee isn't serious, as first feared.

The team says Nicks has had two MRIs since hyperextending his knee in practice on Tuesday, and neither showed any significant injury.

The Giants' first-round draft pick last year had the second MRI performed on Wednesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City where he was examined by team surgeon Dr. Russell Warren.

Nicks, who's currently practicing once a day as he comes back from offseason toe surgery, could possibly return to practice as early as Thursday.

The former UNC star had 47 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie. He finished third on the team in receptions behind fellow wideouts Steve Smith (107) and Mario Manningham (57).
