Frank Gore on Colts' losing ways: 'I didn't come here for this'

After suffering their fourth loss of 2016, the Indianapolis Colts’ season is quickly getting away from them. Sunday night’s crushing defeat to the Houston Texans was not only emotionally hard to swallow, but it significantly hurt their chances of making the playoffs.

They’re now two games back of the Texans rather than being tied for first in the division, had they held on to a 23-9 lead with seven minutes to play. It was disheartening but also far too common when it comes to the Colts. They’ve been underwhelming for two straight seasons now and have failed to meet expectations.

Veteran running back Frank Gore joined the Colts before the 2015 season, hoping to reach the postseason as Indianapolis had done each of the three years prior. That hasn’t happened yet, and he’s in danger of missing out on the postseason yet again in 2016.

"I didn't come here for this," Gore said, via IndyStar. "I came here to get into the tournament."

Gore, who became the Colts’ first 100-yard rusher since 2010, was understandably upset about the loss. The defense blew a 14-point lead, while the offense couldn’t gain a first down when it needed one most in the fourth quarter.

According to IndyStar reporter Gregg Doyel, Gore was noticeably frustrated, almost to the point of tears. He wasn’t the only one disappointed, but he clearly took hit hard.

“We’ll go back to work tomorrow,” head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters. “What else are you gonna do?”

The Colts are now at a crossroads in their season. With a road game up next against the Titans, followed by a visit from the Chiefs, Indianapolis has a chance to get back to .500. It won’t be easy, but it might be necessary to save their season.
