Fox: Eddie Royal looked 'pretty good' in first practice since October
The Chicago Bears could receive a reinforcement at wide receiver pretty soon. Veteran pass-catcher Eddie Royal practiced for the first time since October on Wednesday, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
Although Royal's participation in practice was limited, head coach John Fox was happy just to have him back on the field.
"We haven’t been able to keep our same wide receiver group together for some time," Fox said, per the Chicago Tribune. "Obviously he’s a guy that we thought highly enough (of) to go out and sign in free agency. He started the season in pretty good shape and has been banged up. He looked, actually, pretty good today in practice."
Royal, 29, has missed five straight games with a sprained left knee. The Bears expected him to be a big part of their passing game when they signed him in free agency last spring, but he has only recorded 26 catches for 171 yards in six games with the team.
The Bears have dealt with several injuries at the wide receiver position this season, but this news about Royal offers some rare encouragement.
