Fitzpatrick hopes to be back with Jets next season
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) Coming off a career year but a disappointing finish, Ryan Fitzpatrick hopes to return to the New York Jets next season.
The veteran quarterback is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason, but says Monday he is comfortable with the Jets and ''this is a place I want to be.'' Fitzpatrick adds that he doesn't want to get into hypotheticals, but says he had the most fun of his 11-year NFL career.
Fitzpatrick set a Jets franchise record with 31 touchdowns after taking over as the starter when Geno Smith's jaw was broken by a punch from Ikemefuna Enemkpali in August.
With the Jets needing a win to make the playoffs, Fitzpatrick was intercepted in each of New York's final three possessions against Buffalo in a 22-17 loss Sunday.
