Fantasy Football Week 10 Start 'Em or Sit 'Em: Rams Edition

The Los Angeles Rams have some good options to play in Fantasy Football Week 10, while also having some players you can’t trust.

Fantasy Football Week 10 presents three starting options for the Los Angeles Rams and two guys you need to keep on your bench.

The Rams will take on the New York Jets, a team that has been awful against passing attacks this season. That puts Rams receivers in play, although quarterback Case Keenum still can’t be trusted as a streaming option.

Where the Jets have been most successful is against the run. New York has great numbers against opposing running backs in 2016, especially at home, which throws a wrench into fantasy owners’ plans of starting Todd Gurley this week. The sophomore back is no longer a no-brainer must-start every week.

Let’s dig a little deeper and find out why you should either start or sit some Rams players this week.

Start ‘Em: Kenny Britt

Britt has been the Rams’ No. 1 receiver this season and leads the team in receptions and receiving yards. The veteran has also found the end zone three times in his team’s last three contests.

The New York Jets’ defense is giving up the 12th-most fantasy points to wideouts and have surrendered 100 yards or more to five different receivers this season. Head coach Todd Bowles’ offense has been getting beat deep all season with lackluster secondary play, so Britt should have an opportunity to improve on the 10 receptions of 20 yards or more he has this season.

Sit ‘Em: Case Keenum

With quarterbacks like Derek Carr, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford and Tyrod Taylor all on bye this week, fantasy owners will be looking for a streaming option behind center. There are much better options than Keenum, though.

The Rams signal-caller is not a viable starter despite a juicy matchup with a Jets defense that ranks 22nd against the pass and has allowed the 12th-most points to the position. Keenum has scored a shade under 27 fantasy points in his last two games thanks to five picks to just two touchdowns. Keenum should put up good yardage totals in this showdown, however the risk of turnovers and lack of consistency and passing touchdowns (Keenum has nine in eight games) make it impossible to trust him.

Start ‘Em: Lance Kendricks

There should be plenty of pressure on Keenum this week with the Rams’ offensive line having a rough season. That bodes well for Kendricks in the intermediate passing game against New York’s defense that is ceding the 13th-most points to tight ends.

Los Angeles’ tight end has seen 29 targets in his last three games and posted his best performance of the season with seven catches for 90 yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9. Kendricks is a solid streaming option this week, as he continues to grow a bigger role in the team’s offense.

Sit ‘Em: Todd Gurley

It’s so difficult to sit Gurley when you consider what he did during his rookie campaign, but this is a different season entirely. Gurley has yet to reach 100 yards on the ground and hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown in his last three games. Not to mention, he is averaging just 13.7 carries per game in that span.

New York’s defense has allowed just 45.6 rushing yards per game at home this season and has seen just two backs go for 100 yards on the ground. The Jets should win the battle upfront this week and don’t have to worry about a viable passing attack to keep them honest. Sitting Gurley is a tough sell based on his history, but if you have a better option at running back you should roll with it.

Start ‘Em: Rams D/ST

One of the few things that have gone right for the Rams this season is their defense. The Rams are the fifth-best D/ST and are facing a Jets defense giving up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses.

Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been sacked 10 times in his last three games and leads the NFL with 13 interceptions. As a whole, the Jets have more giveaways than any team in the league (19). There should be plenty of ways for the Rams to score en route to a stellar fantasy outing.
