Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 9: TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins
Heading into Week 9 Fantasy Football action, owners should stay far away from tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins as he faces the Miami Dolphins on the road.
Make no mistake about it, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been nothing short of a massive disappointment with the New York Jets. Plenty of fantasy football owners had a small glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, Jenkins would be a huge acquisition by the Jets at tight end. He’s been nothing close to even being relevant for a team that simply doesn’t utilize tight ends like other franchises do.
As the Jets are preparing to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, fantasy football owners should stay far away from Jenkins this week. Sure, he might have been a full participant all week long in practice with the Jets but it’s hard to trust him due to his lingering ankle injury.
The Jets don’t really use their tight ends as receiving options. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey prefers to use them as extra blockers to establish his rushing attack. If anything, that’s more than likely going to be the role that Jenkins plays in come game time.
Owners should consider other tight ends available via the waiver wire since Jenkins isn’t going to do much against the Dolphins. Considering he only has 17 receiving yards on two receptions shows owners exactly what they’re getting should they dare start him.
More from The Jet Press
Jenkins will more than likely go down as a terrible acquisition by the Jets since well, he had flashes of potential in the past with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but injuries are getting the best of him. One can’t do much if you’re limited in practice or unable to actually be on the gridiron ready to contribute.
Overall, sit Jenkins this week and honestly consider parting ways with him for good. Find any other option at the tight end position besides Jenkins who is on a team that doesn’t use the position effectively.
