Falcons WR Roddy White arrested for outstanding traffic violation

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was arrested in the Atlanta area early Tuesday morning for an outstanding traffic violation.

A Gwinnett (Ga.) County police sergeant told FOX Sports 1 the arrest stemmed from a bench warrant that was issued for White's previous failure to appear in court. The Gwinnett County Sherriff's Office website lists the warrant as being for "non-transparent mat on windows," i.e. illegal tint.

White spent 77 minutes in Gwinnett County jail before posting a $168 bond. He was released at about 5:30 a.m. ET.

The Falcons issued this statement Tuesday: "We are aware of the incident involving Roddy White. We anticipate this will be resolved shortly and we will have no further comment at this time."

White, 32, is Atlanta's all-time leader in receiving yards with 9,436 on 685 career catches since joining the franchise as a 2005 first-round draft choice. He has caught a pass in a franchise-record 112 consecutive games.

White is set to earn $4.5 million next season in the final year of a $48 million contract he signed in 2009.
