Falcons re-sign DE Kroy Biermann, their 2014 sacks leader

The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed defensive end Kroy Biermann, who led the team in sacks last season.

Biermann (6-foot-3, 255 poinds) was a fifth-round pick from Montana in 2008. He has played a variety of roles, including a hybrid outside linebacker-defensive end job last season.

Biermann may not have been seen as a perfect fit at defensive end or linebacker in the team's new 4-3 scheme. He can provide flexibility, depth and special teams help for new coach Dan Quinn and defensive coordinator Richard Smith.

Biermann started 15 games in 2014 and set a career high with 80 tackles. His 4-1/2 sacks led the team. He has 21 career sacks.
