Ezekiel Elliott Dives For First NFL Touchdown with Cowboys (Video)
Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott wouldn’t be stopped trying to find the end zone, diving to score his first career NFL touchdown
To say that the Dallas Cowboys are expecting big things from rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott would be doing a disservice to the magnitude of those expectations. After the Boys used the No. 4 overall pick in 2016 to select the back, he’s expected to be a star. Throw in the fact that he’s running behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, and that’s even more the case.
However, Elliott found himself up against it in Week 1, playing his first regular season game. The beefed up front-seven of the New York Giants was closing his holes well and really making life difficult. Still, the rookie wouldn’t be denied. So when the Cowboys got down into the red zone, Ezekiel Elliott wasn’t going to finish his run anywhere but in the end zone.
The initial play seemed to be designed to take Elliott left. However, he cut the ball back to the right edge of the line where there was space. He burst into that space before lifting off over the final defender and across the goal line for six points.

That’s the type of talent at running back that gets you taken at No. 4 overall. Even if Elliott’s per-carry numbers aren’t great after Week 1, doubting him would be silly. His talent clearly shows he’s the truth. And he’ll only have more time to show it this season and beyond.
