Everson Griffen promises Vikings will beat Lions on Sunday

The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings will meet at TCF Bank stadium this weekend, with both NFC North squads in search of their first win of the 2015 season.

Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is one player who's particularly determined not to fall into a two-game hole. After an embarrassing loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Monday night, the team captain promised Week 2 will be different.

A fiery Griffen vowed to beat the Lions on Sunday, via Matt Vensel of the Star-Tribune:

We are a good team. We practice like a good team each and every day. I don’t know what that showing was. We got Detroit coming up this week Sunday. That’s our focus now. San Fran, it was a blow to us. … They’re more of a team than we were.

[...]

As a team we prepared too hard to go out there and put a performance like that in. I feel as a team we’re going to come together and we’re going to go out there and beat Detroit. I’m very angry right now as you can see, because we prepared way too hard. But we’re going to go out there and get it.

Minnesota will need to show a ton of improvement to top Detroit this weekend. While the Lions are no world-beaters themselves after melting down in San Diego last Sunday, the Vikings only mustered a measly three points against the 49ers.

To beat the Lions, Griffen's defense must cut down on missed tackles and the Vikings' offense needs to find the end zone.
