Eli Manning and Shane Vereen are developing a nice rapport

It hasn't taken long for New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning to recognize what he's got in free agent acquisition Shane Vereen. Manning and Vereen have worked together with the first team offense in OTA and mini-camp practices more than initially expected. Vereen has mixed in with the first unit quite often, and he could end up with a big role in the regular season.

During Monday' first mini-camp practice, Vereen showed off exactly what he offers the Giants' offense. On one red zone play, Vereen motions from the slot into the backfield, and he runs a route into the end zone before catching a touchdown from Manning.

Moving into Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's primarily zone-blocking scheme is great news for Vereen because it fits his running style. If he can prove to be a major asset in the passing game and an unexpected producer as a runner, don't be surprised if he surpasses Rashad Jennings as the lead back.
