The idea of them doing so raised a lot of eyebrows and doubts prior to September 11th, but once the Eagles’ first drive of 2016 ended with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Jordan Matthews, those doubts turned into some very loud cheers. What ensued over the course of the next three hours was a two touchdown performance from a guy who’s officially the toast of an entire city that’s been starving for a quarterback to get excited about.

Pro Football Focus has also taken notice. Senior analyst of PFF Mike Renner released a list of what he sees as the top rookies in the NFL following week one, and guess who tops the list? You guessed it! Wentz’s passing grade is the highest given out by PFF to any rookie quarterback since 2011 when Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton lit it up in his first start.

Yes, there are things to improve on. There should be. Yes, this performance came against the lowly Cleveland Browns, but, truthfully, aren’t you sick of hearing that? Regardless of what you think of Cleveland, they’re an NFL franchise. Period. The Chicago Bears are on the horizon and the guys in green leave the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field for the hostile environment of Soldier Field. The only question now is what does Wentz do for an encore?
