Eagles add more offense on NFL draft's third day

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Eagles added more offense on Day 3 of the NFL draft.

West Virginia running back Wendell Smallwood and Texas Christian offensive lineman Halapoulivaati Vaitai were selected in the fifth round on Saturday, making it four straight offensive players for the Eagles.

Smallwood led the Big 12 with 1,519 yards rushing and nine touchdowns in 13 games. He also caught 26 passes for 160 yards. Smallwood was the first running back drafted by Philadelphia since Bryce Brown was chosen in the seventh round in 2012.

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Vaitai started at right tackle as a junior and left tackle his senior season.

The Eagles didn't have a fourth-round pick.

They chose North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall Thursday night and Oregon State offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo in the third round on Friday.
