Drew Brees is convinced he will win one more Super Bowl

The New Orleans Saints are coming off of a mediocre 7-9 season that wasn’t good enough to advance them to the playoffs. Speaking with confidence about the upcoming season and a shot at winning at least one more Super Bowl before he retires, quarterback Drew Brees shared this:

“I’m very convinced. It’s what drives me and keeps me going,”Brees said. “I love this game for so many reasons. The opportunity to have played it for going on 15 years is rare, it’s unique. I want to continue to play for absolutely as long as I can, as long as I’m having fun, playing at a high level and maybe I’ll stay healthy, why not play this game? It’s a blessing.”

Brees also set the record straight after indicating last year that he could play until his 45th birthday.

“I said I think I could play until I was 45. Do I think that’s possible? Yes, absolutely. Could that happen? Yes. Would I love for that to happen? Yes. I’m not naive to knowing that I’m on a series of one-year contracts, just like everyone else in the league. I feel like I can find that juice. I’ve got it. It’s there. I’ll keep having fun and keep slinging it around.”

Keeping things realistic moving forward, Brees said that there is a lot of work that needs to be done in order to get the Saints in a position to actually contend for a title. There is no doubt we can agree with that statement.

While Brees’ belief that he could potentially play until 45 is a positive way of thinking, it is highly unlikely that he has ten more seasons in that 36-year-old body. The window for Brees to actually win a title, however, is closing rapidly.
