Don't expect Carson Wentz to start the season on Eagles' active roster

The Philadelphia Eagles can afford to take it nice and slow with rookie QB Carson Wentz, the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

And according to coach Doug Pederson, that likely includes starting the season with Wentz in street clothes on Sundays.

With Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel already in the fold and expected to lock down the starting and backup jobs, Pederson says it's pretty likely Wentz would start the season on the inactive list as the third-string QB.

From the Philly Voice:

Of course, that's not really any sort of knock on Wentz. In early June, his position coach raved about the rookie QB.

Quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo said then that Wentz was "further along" than the team expected when they took he 6-6, 235-pounder out of North Dakota State.
