Dolphins rookie Jordan Phillips leads all DTs in this category
Miami Dolphins rookie defensive tackle Jordan Phillips hasn't gotten much recognition around the NFL thus far, mainly because there's a guy named Ndamukong Suh on the same line.
He doesn't have standout numbers -- 14 tackles and two sacks -- but he does lead everyone at his position in this statistical category: passes defensed. Phillips has knocked down four passes this season, all of which came in the past three games, and has earned himself a starting spot with Earl Mitchell injured.
“That’s just what we’re taught -- when we rush, put our hands up,” Phillips said via the Miami Herald. “Any way you can alter a play is a good feeling.”
Phillips was a second-round pick out of Oklahoma and has really come on of late. He started the season slow, but he's capitalized on his few opportunities thus far. As a run-stuffing defensive tackle next to Suh, Phillips has the chance to continue to make an impact as a rookie.
