Dolphins RB Bush won't play vs. Jets

Miami Dolphins interim coach Todd Bowles said Friday that running back Reggie Bush will not play Sunday against the Jets due to a right knee injury.

Bush sustained the injury late in last Sunday's 27-24 loss at New England.

The news provides a boost to the Jets' chances against the surging Dolphins, who are 5-10 this season after an 0-7 start.

The 26-year-old Bush, in his first year with the Dolphins, has also come on strong in recent months as his workload has increased. He has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in the last four games, including a 203-yard performance in a Week 15 win at Buffalo.

Bush has 1,086 rushing yards this season, by far his career high, with 296 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns.

Rookie Daniel Thomas will get most of the carries in Bush's absence. Thomas has 553 yards this season, but has seen Bush take most of the carries in recent weeks.

The Jets (8-7) must win at Miami to keep alive their slim playoff chances.
