Dolphins' Lamar Miller puzzled by getting just two second-half carries

The Miami Dolphins entered Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers already eliminated from playoff contention, so they didn't have much to play for. The Chargers were in the same boat, but they showed up and dominated the Dolphins, blowing them out, 30-14.

Once again, Miami failed to balance the offense with run and pass, but that's likely based on the score getting out of hand early. Still, Lamar Miller's ineffectiveness and lack of touches is puzzling. He carried it just two times for one yard in the second half, giving way to rookie Jay Ajayi.

Needless to say, Miller wasn't happy about being "benched."

“I really don’t know,” Miller said when asked why he didn't play more in the second half, via the Palm Beach Post. “... I’ve got no words to say.”

Frustration is certainly boiling over in Miami, especially after their loss to the now 4-10 Chargers. This was a game that they should have won, and Miller should have had success against their 26th-ranked run defense. That obviously didn't happen, and it frustrated Miller.

“I mean, yeah, because I feel like I could help this team win," he said when asked if it was frustration to not be on the field. "You know, I’m pretty sure everybody wanted to be on the field competing with their teammates."

Miller was also asked if he's unhappy with the way he's been used.

“I won’t say frustrated. Uh, I don’t know," he said.

The next two games could very well be Miller's last in Miami as he's set to be a free agent in 2016. He's already said that the number of carries he gets will factor into his decision to return, and after Sunday's nine-carry game, he can't be pleased. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out for the Dolphins.
