Dolphins CB Byron Jones out at least four games

The Miami Dolphins announced on Tuesday that they moved cornerback Byron Jones to the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to continued recovery from an Achilles injury. He will miss at least the first four games of the 2022 NFL season.

Jones missed all of training camp after undergoing offseason surgery on his Achilles tendon, which reportedly wasn't torn.

The 29-year-old cornerback is entering the third season of a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Dolphins. He started 16 games for Miami last season, totaling 58 combined tackles and one forced fumble. His performance has suffered a considerable drop-off from his days in Dallas, where he earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2018.

With Jones out, the Dolphins will presumably lean on cornerbacks Noah Igbinoghene, Nik Needham and Keion Crossen, in addition to Pro Bowler Xavien Howard.
