Did Cam Newton shade Peyton Manning in Instagram retirement message?

Peyton Manning announced his retirement from football in a press conference on Monday, and like clockwork, heartfelt messages from teammates and opponents alike came rolling in. Including one from Cam Newton, which the Panthers quarterback posted to Instagram with a photo of the two from Super Bowl 50.

It was heartfelt, touching, thoughtful, and petty, maybe? Take a look.

Like anything Cameron1Newton posts to the Internet it reads like Malbolge and looks like ASCII art. There's stray captial letters and umlauts and slashed o's with random numbers thrown in there all willy nilly. But if you squint really hard for too long, the possibility that Newton might've been testing The Sheriff's chin here reveals itself.

Specifically this line: "You set the bar H1GH....extremelyHiGH and knowing your family, I know that's just the norm."

Hm. "H1GH"... "extremelyHiGH"...

......HGH!

Remember how Peyton Manning is still in the thicket of a comprehensive and ongoing NFL investigation into his alleged use of the growth hormone that may or may not put a big, fat asterisk on his 18 year career? If Cam Newton really was referencing this in his sendoff, then that is hilariously, awesomely petty.

If not, the message was nice and all, so, still good on Cam Newton. Fingers crossed for the first one, though.
