Dez Bryant explains why he dropped those footballs in viral video
Dez Bryant had the worst season of his career in 2015 due to a broken foot suffered in Week 1. He played just nine games – just three with Tony Romo under center – as he caught 31 passes for 401 yards and three touchdowns.
Coming off of a broken foot, Bryant certainly needs to knock some rust off. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver coach Derek Dooley openly said that, and it would appear to be true after seeing the viral video of Bryant dropping passes from a JUGS machine.
Only, the Vine from Bleacher Report wasn’t completely accurate. And Bryant isn’t happy about it.
“What (Bleacher Report’s) (expletive) don’t understand is the speed level was sky-high,” he said on 105.3 the Fan. “About 60 (mph).”
The full video, which was taken by Mike Fisher, shows that Bryant actually did catch a handful of passes (6-of-11) fired his way. And it also proves how close he was to the machine.
"If it was set on the regular level I woulda caught all of 'em," Bryant said. "But that's not the purpose of the drill. But I guess … before they decide they want to make a joke, they need to get all the facts before they come after somebody.''
While it certainly sounds like Bryant is furious about the video, he has no hard feelings. He doesn’t let misperception like that have an impact on him and vows to be better this season – including getting back to “beast mode.”
“Yeah, but it’s all good, my man,’’ Bryant said. “I don’t too much give a damn about what they’re talking about. Just check me out this year. That’s it.”
