DeSean Jackson on Giants' DB: 'Who is this guy?'

By Chelena Goldman

DeSean Jackson was on his game on Sunday — both on the gridiron and in his post-game commentary.

The Washington Redskins wide receiver put on quite the performance in his first game back after sustaining a hamstring injury. In recalling to Comcast SportsNet's Tarik El-Bashir his 63-yard connection with Kirk Cousins for a touchdown, he made a nonchalant jab at the New York Giants cornerback defending him:

"I seen the safety kind of up a little bit. (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie) went out (with an injury), I played against him a long time, and I seen this guy No. 20, I’m like, who is this guy?"

As As Scott Allen of The Washington Post points out, Jackson was probably referring to Giants' cornerback Jayron Hosley — jersey No. 28 — who was filling in for the injured Rodgers-Cromartie. However, whether Jackson "knew" who Hosley was or not probably wouldn't have simmered his confidence. D-Jax went so far as to say that he would "take the odds" on himself any day, Allen reported:

Chick Hernandez asked Jackson, who boasted in August that no one could defend him, whether he considers himself “uncoverable.”
“I feel very confident in myself,” Jackson said. “There are some good guys out there and they get paid just as well as I do, but I’ll take the odds on me any day. Like I say, whenever my number is called — I keep saying that — but whenever it’s called, I’m going to be where I need to be and hopefully I can be backpedaling in the end zone.”

The backpedaling into the end zone is a whole other story.
