DeSean Jackson Keeps Redskins Alive with Long Touchdown (Video)

You know what makes Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson so valuable? He can change the complexion of a game in an instant.

The New York Giants offense had been too much for the Washington Redskins to handle for much of the first half. And while the pregame festivities centered around the WR-CB battle between Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman, standout rookie Sterling Shepard has been the high performer for New York so far.

However, the game’s leading receiver wasn’t on the Giants, even though Ben McAdoo’s squad held a 21-16 lead at halftime. No, thanks to a 44-yard touchdown bomb from Kirk Cousins, Redskins superstar DeSean Jackson’s 84 receiving yards on just three catches put him in the lead.

How do you defend that?

DeSean Jackson is the best deep threat of our generation, but what makes him so special isn’t just the athletic traits. Sure, he’s fast and explosive, but there are so many receivers who fit that profile. As you can see here, nobody is better than Jackson at tracking down deep passes.

Even more impressive, though, is the throw Kirk Cousins makes here. He’s had an awful start to the 2016 season. But plays like this will give him more confidence in his all-important year on the franchise tag. The Redskins offensive line gave him ample time, so he wound up and found an open Jackson for a beautiful six points.

The Redskins have been having more issues with running the football, which will continue to put pressure on Cousins to find his receivers for big plays against a Giants secondary that has been known to surrender long touchdown passes.
