Derek Carr Ties Panthers With MVP Moment (Video)
Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is an MVP front-runner and he showed why with a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter.
After the first half, the Oakland Raiders held a commanding lead over the Carolina Panthers, as a Khalil Mack pick-six of Cam Newton made it a 24-7 ballgame. The Panthers, however, had other plans, as Ron Rivera’s bunch was on a mission to turn their season around. They responded to the halftime deficit with 25 unanswered points, capped off by a 44-yard touchdown pass from Newton to No. 1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin.
Carr didn’t need to hit up his top receiver to tie things up at 32, because he cut up a 12-yard touchdown to tight end Clive Walford.
Carr ???? Walford = 6 points!
Carr ???? Roberts = 2 points!We're all tied up in Oakland! #RaiderNation #CARvsOAK https://t.co/DPzPGQHkuy

This was a big-time throw from Carr in tight window in the end zone and the clutchness of the throw can’t be undersold.
Hopefully this touchdown can serve as a morale boost for Walford, who sat at 43 yards on three receptions following the score. After being hyped up as a breakout tight end before the season, the promising Miami product fell short during the first 11 weeks. In fact, the argument could be made that he was the Raiders least effective player on an excellent offense.
Carr’s touchdown looks all the more impressive when you factor in his injury. Earlier in the game, he left the field with an apparently dislocated finger and the Raiders gave him a glove to wear in order to continue playing.
We knew Carr has a talented arm and is a tough dude, but he reached new levels of leadership and stardom with a play like this.
