Dante Fowler Jr. tweets heartfelt statement after injury

Dante Fowler Jr.’s rookie season got off to the worst possible start on Friday. Less than an hour into the first day of rookie minicamp for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Fowler went down with a knee injury. He was matched up against against former Georgia lineman Watts Dantzler during 11-on-11 drills when he planted on his left foot and his knee gave way.

Later in the evening Fowler was diagnosed with a torn ACL, and he will likely miss the entire 2015 season.

After doctors determined the severity of the injury, Fowler took to Twitter to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. He also promised that he’ll be back better than ever.

"Hey everybody I'll be fine thank you for your prayers and encouragement, I really appreciate that!" Fowler wrote. "This gives me time to get my body bigger and stronger and I'll be back better than ever!"

Fowler was Jacksonville’s most prized selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Jaguars picked him No. 3 overall, just behind Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.
