Danny Amendola shares what he thought of Tom Brady at first
The New England Patriots will likely go the rest of the regular season without Julian Edelman after he suffered a broken foot against the New York Giants in Week 10.
Danny Amendola stepped in and caught 10 passes for 79 yards after Edelman went down, and figures to play a big role on offense from this point forward. What tends to get forgotten though, is the fact that Amendola restructured his contract in the offseason, taking a pay cut to free up more space for the remainder of the team.
His value will certainly be felt over the next seven games, and possibly beyond that. Since arriving in New England in 2013, he's caught 121 passes, despite missing four games in 2013. Tom Brady's presence likely played a big role in his decision to sign a five-year deal with the Patriots in 2013.
Amendola shared his thoughts on what he thought of Brady upon first working with him, and unsurprisingly, he had nothing but good things to say.
“I had a feeling it was the case before I came here, but then I got here and I was just in awe with how hard he works,” Amendola said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “I feel like the best of the best in any sport not only plays well, but they get everyone around them to play really well, and the best they can. That’s what Tom is about. He gets everybody around him to work really hard, and in turn, that gets everyone to play hard for him and everyone respects that.”
Amendola and Brady will be seeing more of each other down the stretch with Amendola attempting to do his best Edelman impression. If the Patriots are to go undefeated and make a run at another Super Bowl, it's safe to say Amendola will play a big part in doing so.
