Colts QB Daniel Jones Tore Achilles in Loss to Jaguars, Ending 2025 Season

Daniel Jones' comeback season has come to a tough end.

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback tore his Achilles in their 36-19 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, ending his season, FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reported.

Jones suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game, appearing to be in clear pain as he completed a pass to Alec Pierce. He was quickly ruled out after heading to the locker room.

Jones had been playing with a fractured fibula in his left leg over the last few weeks. However, Jones' Achilles injury occurred in his right leg.

Jones was replaced by rookie Riley Leonard, who completed 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards and an interception in the loss. Anthony Richardson, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 draft, is out with a broken orbital bone after an accident earlier this season involving a stretching band.

Before his exit, Jones was 5 of 7 for 60 yards and threw an interception and also had one carry for four yards.

The Colts entered this game tied with the Jaguars in the AFC South at 8-4, but the Jags held the tiebreaker and are in first place. With the loss, Indianapolis fell to 8-5 on the season and dropped to the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture. If the Houston Texans defeat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, the Colts will drop out of the playoff picture entering Week 15.

Jones’ performance has declined quickly since the start of November as he battled the leg injury. In the Colts’ last four games in that span, Jones has completed just 61.9% of his passes with six touchdowns to four interceptions. Prior to that, he was completing 71.2% of pass attempts and had 13 touchdowns to three interceptions in the Colts’ first eight games of the season. Indy was 7-1 in those first eight but is 1-3 in its last four.
