Dak Prescott reacts to Tony Romo's emotional speech passing the torch to him

The NFL world marveled at Tony Romo after the Dallas Cowboys' veteran QB passed the torch to rookie Dak Prescott this week with an emotional statement of support.

But Prescott said Romo's words were no surprise to him or his teammates.

"I think that was more for y'all than for me or for this team," Prescott told reporters Wednesday. "We know each other, how we feel about the situation. He's been a great leader, a great model for me to look up to and watch every day. So I'm not surprised."

Despite season-long talk of a quarterback controversy, the Cowboys appear to be firmly in the hands of Prescott after last week's win at Pittsburgh pushed them to an NFL-leading 8-1. A ninth straight win Sunday against Baltimore would set a franchise record.

In fact, Ray Lewis thinks Prescott should be the frontrunner for MVP.

And yet Prescott still won't call the Cowboys his team.

"This is our team," Prescott told reporters. "I said that two minutes ago and I'll say it again. Everybody plays a part in our success in what's happened and they'll play a part in the adversity that comes."

Tight end Jason Witten isn't ready to talk about the possibility that his pal Romo's Cowboys career is coming to an end, and Skip Bayless also thinks it's too early to write off Romo.
